Our pet Turkey, "Tikey"
Tikey is a "Bourbon Red"
variety of turkey. This is considered a heritage breed and is
rare in the USA compared with the comercial variety of "broad
breasted white". He was born in March of 2003 and we bought
him when he was just a few days old from a local feed store. From
the begining, this was a very friendly bird! Tikey visited Renton
Christian elementary school Thanksgiving week so the kids could
see a live turkey. Tikey was very happy to strut for them, and
even gobbled a few times! When the children had to go back to
their classes, Tikey tried to follow. He really seems to enjoy
children and showing off for them!
Tikey had to ride in a dog crate to
school.
Tikey visited the Sippy family one
day. He was very happy to strut and show off for them!
