We arrived at the lake at 5am after driving
all night. Check out the new camping rig!
The campground was eerily deserted. We had the entire
North end of the lake to ourselves after a few hours.
In the dawn light, we could see smoke over
the hills.
As the day progressed, smoke blurred
the sun, ashes fell on us. This was an exciting adventure for
Terry, a scary scenario for Karen. It is smoke you see in the
picture below, not clouds. We decided to leave rather than the
possibility of a hasty evacuation.
As of the end of our trip, the fire
still had not reached the lake. But it was still threatening the
closest town of Loomis. We pray no one is injured and they are
able to contain the fire before this beautiful area is burned.
